2. Citronelle
My dad tells a story about Citronelle: he had some work folks in town once who were staying at the Latham Hotel. When they asked him for a restaurant recommendation near the hotel, he told them they couldn’t go wrong with Citronelle. They said, “we’d like something nicer than a hotel restaurant”. That’s the tricky thing about Citronelle—it’s many things....

37. Zaytinya
It was an office holiday party palooza at Zaytinya this week. Now, this seems weird to me. If you have a large group of people all eating together, isn’t the easiest thing to eat family style food? And isn’t tapas by definition the opposite of family style? Am I getting too existential for a food blog? Is anyone out there? My constant issue with tapas menus is that I never know how...

M St. between 22nd and 24th is pretty dead on weekend mornings, save for the occasional wandering tourist, but that isn’t the case for Blue Duck. Brunch service starts promptly at 11:30am, and folks were practically Incredible Hulk-ing it when they weren’t seated right away....

Links 'n Things
The fine folks over at Capital Spice have cooked up (ha!) a pretty sweet contest in honor of the season finale of The Most Important Television Show of All Time, Top Chef. Here are the rules: “Entrants must post a suggestion for a Top Chef Elimination Challenge that would highlight something uniquely Washington, whether it’s a location, an ingredient, an event or a possible guest...

41. Charlie Palmer Steak
In my efforts to research a Sex and the City-style bus tour following the rise of Bryan Voltaggio (working title: Local Boy Makes Good…Foam), I headed to Charlie Palmer Steak today. In case you haven’t memorized every bit of dialogue from this year’s Top Chef like me, Bryan V. used to be the executive chef at this fundraiser favorite. He hasn’t been there since opening up...
