3. Minibar
“I’m kind of sad it’s over.” That’s what my friend Jody said when we were walking out of Minibar. It’s true, after 28 courses I could have sat there for twenty more. Sitting up at that little bar is a wonderful experience—you make friends with your fellow diners, and by the end of the meal the couple chefs behind the counter seem like friends too. Speaking...

15. Volt
People of Frederick! Listen to me! You have a super awesome restaurant that you’re not taking advantage of. Volt, in downtown super cute Frederick, was almost empty for lunch. There should be a line around the block. Granted, it’s a little on the pricey side for a mid-work lunch, but there are plenty of deals. Not only is there an “express lunch” bar menu where you can...

31. Ray's the Steaks
Obviously, homonyms are hot in DC cuisine. Not only do we have Pete’s Apizza (yes, I know it’s not a real homonym, but stick with me), but tonight I ate at DC’s most famous homonym cum restaurant, Ray’s the Steaks. For the sake of full disclosure, I am not a steak eater. Actually, steak is the last thing I would order off a menu. But even though there are plenty of seafood...

Breaking: I am capable of more than just googling.
After getting more than a few suggestions that it would be nice if the list on the left actually linked to the posts of that restaurant, I have finally gotten around to figuring out how to do it. Don’t say that computer class in tenth grade didn’t teach me anything! Anyways, the links should now take you to all the reviews and...

30. 2 Amy's
I’m biased about 2 Amy’s. When everyone was going crazy about teeny tiny Pizzaria Paradiso, I read somewhere about it’s little sister in Cleveland Park. Since I hate to wait for a table more than most things, I tried 2 Amy’s fully expecting it to be good but not as life-changing as if I had been a little more patient and stuck it out at Paradiso. Well needless to say, I...

53. Mourayo
If there was a Greece pavilion at Epcot, it might look a lot like Mourayo. The restaurant has a kitchy (and borderline cheesy) ship decor, complete with porthole fake windows and oiled wood floors. Most ridiculous of all has to be the waiters’ costumes. Unfortuantely (or maybe fortunately for the poor souls who work there) I forgot my camera battery last night and couldn’t commit these...

89. Kaz Sushi Bistro
Kaz Sushi Bistro has the distinct disadvantage of being the first sushi restaurant I ate at after Kotobuki. And sadly for Kaz, it paled in comparison. The restaurant was empty at 6:30pm on a Monday except for one table of GW students, who appeared to be trying to use their fake IDs to buy sake. Kids today! In my day we went to McFaddens with our fake IDs! (Kidding, Mom.) Needless to say, it was a...

73. Grapeseed
For Mother’s Day this year, I took my mom out to dinner. Kidding! Actually for Mother’s Day, I had my mom take me out to dinner. I am a sister on a mission after all. Since we were a little late in the reservation game and didn’t feel like spending $100 a person on buffet brunch, we ended up at #73 on our hit parade, Grapeseed. Being a Bethesda-area native, I have stared at...

26. Four Sisters
First, a word to the wise: Please do not confuse Four Sisters with Three Sisters. Here is the difference: Four Sisters is a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant in Falls Church/Annandale/Merrifield; Three Sisters is a nail salon known for pain-free bikini waxes. I only said “I’m going to have lunch at Three Sisters” about fifteen times before someone corrected me. Alright, public...

Check me out, part deux
If you would like to see fruits of my toughest test to date, head on over to Metrocurean. Is it the SATs? Is it my attempt to master the space-time continuum? Deciding between TiVoing The Office or Greys Anatomy? NO! Its my choice of the best five bites in DC, which ended up much harder than I thought. If anyone decides to do the best 30 bites in DC, I am up for that. Thanks Metrocurean!

The Ashley-tonian 25 Best List
By eating at Rasika the other night, I have eaten at 25 restaurants to date. That a 1/4 of the way done! 25%! Isn’t that great? All comments about there still being 75 restaurants to go are completely unneccesary and not appreciated. To mark this milestone, I have decided to break it down old school and re-jigger the list to my specifications. Now, the Washingtonian does a great job of...

18. Rasika
Last night I went with my new Internet friends, Leigh Anna and Marian, to Rasika. As a preface, I’m not a big fan of Indian food. It’s not quite in the same ballpark as French food, but I definitely don’t like it as much as say, pancakes. Luckily for Indian food, they have something that’s sort of like pancakes (naan). Now if they could just have something that’s sort of like...

100. Marvin
On Friday night I made my way to Marvin. I put on my cool shoes and did my hair in a hipster cool way (I didn’t shower). I’ve been to Marvin bunches of times before, for eating and for drinking. And not to toot my own horn (toot!), but I was hip to Marvin pretty soon after it first opened. Since then it has become over the top popular and over the top crowded. I do think it is popular...

Oooh, check me out.
I magically showed up on the DC Foodies blog round up this week! Does this mean that someone besides my mom is actually reading this thing? Better start watching my spelling…
Check it.
Welcome, new blog buddies!
